We have been around since before Statehood, before the Good Friday Earthquake, before the Oil Spill (also on good Friday) and have come to be deeply rooted in Alaska's foundation and the lives of many Alaskans.  We have been helping to Grow Healthy Alaskans for over 60 years. Some of our original patients are Great Grandparents of our present-day patients.

Anchorage Pediatric Group was founded by Dr. John C. Tower and Dr. Helen S. Whaley. Dr. Tower was a service member of the 3rd Armor Division during WWII and is remembered fondly by his patients; many remembering his ability to wiggle his ears during visits. Dr. Whaley was the first female pediatrician in Alaska and warmly remembered as a brilliant clinician; tireless in the treatment and support of “her kids” here at APG. Other amazing APG pediatricians over the years: Dr. Harvey Zartman, Dr. Marian Witt, Dr. Ron Keller, Dr. Charles Ryan, Dr. David Alexander, Dr. Matthew Serna, Dr. Jodyne Butto, Dr. Susan Beesley and Dr. Janet Alexander.

While we have been around for some time, we haven't gone unchanged over the years.  We strive to recognize and meet the changing needs of our patients: from technological demands to access information, support and timeliness of available appointments.  We provide our patients and their families the comprehensive evaluation and support they need to raise happy, healthy children here in The Last Frontier.

The current pediatricians and Partners of APG are: Dr. Willow Monterrosa, Dr. Jodi Elliott, and Dr. John Heimerl.
